Sezzle Payments
Sezzle Payments is our updated integration with Shopify. All merchants using Shopify as their eCommerce platform must update to Sezzle Payments before July 31, 2022. If not updated by this date, checkouts with Sezzle will fail and shoppers will experience service interruptions. For instructions on how to install Sezzle Payments, please visit our page on how to add Sezzle to your Shopify store.
You can make sure you’ve installed or upgraded correctly by performing a test checkout on your site. If the option to checkout with Sezzle appears as “Buy Now, Pay Later with Sezzle” aligned to the left and a small Sezzle logo aligned to the right, you have updated Sezzle correctly.

If your checkout option appears with the Sezzle logo and “Sezzle: 4 interest-free payments” all aligned to the left, something has gone wrong.
Integration Troubleshooting
Below are some scenarios that could lead to the checkout not being updated properly.
I received an error telling me I don’t have access to update my payment methods.
You need to have admin access to the Shopify account to finish the update. You can read more about user roles here.
Why are there two options for Sezzle in my checkout?
If you've been a merchant with Sezzle since before April of 2022, you likely have been using the old gateway, which will need to be deleted. To fix this, go to your Shopify admin account and click Settings.
Click the Payments option. You should see Sezzle listed as a payment method (provider). Click Manage. Important: Be sure to deactivate the payment method named Sezzle, not Sezzle Payments.
At the bottom of the page, click Deactivate Sezzle.
Sezzle Payments FAQs
I have my Shopify Payment Capture set to Manual. What do I need to do?
Sezzle Payments will honor your Shopify Payment Capture setting. If you are set to Manual, then you will need to manually capture payment in Shopify for orders paid for by Sezzle. The authorization period can vary by Sezzle merchant, so we highly recommend you check the Sezzle authorization expiration at Settings > eCommerce in the Sezzle merchant dashboard. You can adjust this expiration period according to your needs.
Note: Currently, the order authorization expiration is not reported to Shopify.
Authorization Expiration can be changed as required.
How can I test the new payments app on the dev store?
Make sure you are logged into the dev store on Shopify. In step 2 of the installation process, check the Testing with Sandbox API keys and use the keys from Sezzle Sandbox Dashboard . In Step 4 of installation, Enable Test Mode should be checked. The rest of the process is the same.
I have multiple stores on Shopify. What do I do?
There are several ways to install the payments app on your store. We recommend you use an incognito browser for this process. Navigate to https://{your-store.myshopify.com}/admin/settings/payments/alternative-providers/1057901 where the your-store.myshopify.com is to be replaced with the URL of your store. Once you log into the store, the rest of the process is the same. To install the payments app for another store, make sure to close the incognito browser and open a new session on the incognito browser.
The order number in Shopify appeared in the merchant dashboard on Sezzle. Why don't I see it anymore?
Sezzle will no longer have access to the Shopify order number. To track orders from Sezzle on Shopify, click the relevant order and then click on Information from the gateway. The payment ID should match the ID in the Sezzle Merchant Dashboard under the Reference-ID column.

You can also search in your Shopify admin account for orders by payment id using the format receipt.payment_id: <payment_id>.

I have the Sezzle inventory locking feature enabled today. Will this be enabled with the new app?
Unfortunately, no. Sezzle will no longer have access to view and adjust the inventory of a Shopify store. Without these permissions, we are unable to offer this feature alongside the new payment app.
